randomness

Just some random thoughts I have:

1.  I like Mario Kart.  I got it for the youth the other day and was immediately transported back to sitting on the tour bus playing against the other guys as we hurtled down the interstate.

2.  How can I take my car in for an oil change and walk out with a multi-hundred dollar bill?  It’s happened the last 2 times.

3. I’m designing a shirt for someone and I don’t like it.  It has taken way too much time and I really want to ask them for a design fee.  I won’t do that though.

4.  I’m getting excited about Fall Retreat.

5. My wife is a beautiful pregnant woman.  I love going through all the joys of pregnancy with her.  I hate that I won’t be going to Mississippi with her next week for the doctors appointment.

6.  Sometimes I’d rather watch Sports Center (or cartoons) than spend time doing things good for me in the morning.

7. I like raw cookie dough even if it has eggs in it (which I have made myself believe the store bought dough does not use eggs.  If I’m wrong, don’t correct me.)

8. I miss my sister.  Even though we didn’t see each other that much when she was in N’ville there was always the ability to see her.  Now she’s 9 hours away if Chicago traffic isn’t bad.

9.  Debbie Swafford, who serves as the Student Ministry Assistant, is awesome!  I love working with her.

10.  I should be working instead of typing this so I’m gonna go now.  Have a great rest of the day!

the problem with blogging

is simply this – you have to make time for it.  Which I go through spurts of making time and long periods of thinking “I should blog about that” but then do nothing about.  Don’t think its going to change either.

Melissa is doing well – 6 months into being pregnant and she is growing and all the other things a mom-to-be should be doing.  We painted our new guest room over the weekend and I shampooed carpets yesterday so we’re one step closer to painting the nursery.  The crib and some other furniture are waiting for us at her parents house so that will be coming up in September.  Last dr. appt. was good – did some heart test and he didn’t see anything out of the ordinary.

Mahgen was home all last week so we came to Franklin twice to hang out with her.  I miss having her around even though we didn’t see each other that much.  It sounds like PA school is getting tougher but she’ll get through it – she’s tenacious like that.

Ministry is good.  School started a month ago almost and the changes to our weekly programs were well received.  We’re focusing on a 5th Quarter and Fall Retreat now along with our weekly stuff (teaching, preparing, talking with leaders, getting resources available, etc).  College starts back this weekend so its going to be busy but I am really looking forward to it.  I feel like we’ve got a good foundation to build on, just need more leaders but that’s an all the time need to I’m use to the feelings that a lack of (good) leaders cause me to have.  One thing I am noticing is we are beginning to “attract” a new group of students.  They don’t come from Christian homes and have some needs that we haven’t had to address in the last several years.  I pray our students and leaders are up for meeting these students right where they’re at!

Not much else to share.  Got a new phone and game for my b-day – beat the game, still learning the phone but I like it (but unfortunately it’s not the iphone I still want.  One day I’ll be able to afford the crazy monthly rates).  Hope all is good in your world!
